UPDATE: Some Sad news My Mom Passed away to Gall bladder cancer on 17th October and that the reason why i haven't been around to update and put some recent totals up. NEWS FOR MAY

Just had a donation of £24 which will help to pay for some parcels to go the hospitals

Also just had a massive parcel came to the door, i will post a picture very soon, But this will give us a good total this month and help with our Challenge totals too.THANKYOU BYKER KNITTING GROUP.

2 big boxes has gone out to Forth Park neonatal unit and Chelsea & Westminster neonatal unit.
Couple more boxes are nearly ready to go out too.

Couple of questions has been asked via letter so i thought i should put them up here

Which hospitals do we supply and how distribution works eg hospitals contact you or do you just send parcels to them ever so offen?

Well we supply over 100 hospitals throughout the UK, Everytime a parcel comes to me it gets photographed and logged and we put into boxes ready, When i send a parcel to a hospital it goes with 2 letters, 1 letter is explaining what we do and asking if they are happy with our donation and the 2nd letter is a questionaire asking what items they would like in their next parcel, We will send a parcel to each hospital approx every 8 weeks. All parcels this year has been sent via a Courier service as its a lot cheaper than royal mail.

How you raise money for paying the couriers- Can us knitters help in any way?

Well i have been selling odd bits around the house which i sell on ebay and if we have anything given to us we will put that on ebay to, Also i have been asked by local midwives if i will send them some knitted boobs which they have given us a donation in return. i make personalised keyrings and i sell them too. Also i sell used stamps on ebay which is a really good fundraiser. As we are NOT A REGISTERED CHARITY we have to do other things to help with funding.

Can you knitters help? YES YOU CAN. Collect used stamps, empty ink cartridges and if you think of anything else we can do, If you knit something which is not suitable for premature babies and you would like to donate to help with funds please do so it all helps

What are memory boxes and why is 2 teddies are needed?

We work with a lady who runs ALEXANDRA GIFTS and she makes memory boxes which she donates to hospital for parents who sadly loses their baby, So we spoke and we come up with that PREEMIESUK will donate teddies to go into the memory boxes,

The reason for 2 teddies is that one will go with the baby in their coffin and the other will stay with mummy as a comfort.
